Child Centred – It respects each child’s unique development and encourages self-directed learning.

Prepared Environment – Montessori rooms are designed to allow children the freedom to choose their activities based on their interests. Materials are placed at child friendly heights to encourage independence.

Hands-on Learning – Montessori materials are sensory based to help children understand abstract concepts through touch and movement. Children manipulate objects (e.g. counting beads, puzzle maps) to grasp concepts deeply.

Independence – Children are encouraged to make choices, solve problems and complete tasks on their own. They learn practical life skills (e.g. pouring, tying shoe laces, cleaning up).

Respect for Child – Children are treated as capable individuals with their own thoughts and abilities. Children are given freedom to make choices and express themselves.

Absorbent Minds – The first six years are very important in the Montessori Method because it is the child’s time to develop crucial things like language and basic motor skills. Children take in information all the time no matter how and when. Sensitive Periods – During this time children absorb knowledge quickly and need opportunities for hands-on learning.
